Winchester College shares its renowned heritage and educational values through its international summer programmes – inviting young minds to experience life at one of Britain’s most iconic schools.
At the Winchester College Summer Programme, students can choose between two courses, each designed to inspire growth and help them achieve their personal goals. Catalyst is an intellectually stretching course that prepares students for academic debate, problem-solving, and independent thinking at the highest level. We also offer a two-week English Language Coaching course that blends language learning with creative thinking, ethical exploration and real-world problem-solving.
The Winchester Maths Summer School (WMSS) is a residential course for year 12 students from maintained sector schools hoping to study mathematics at university. It is a unique opportunity to spend a week exploring mathematics in a beautiful setting with a group of like-minded young people.
The theme of the week is ‘Proof in mathematics’. The course looks at different types of mathematical proof in various contexts including geometry, algebra, number theory and combinatorics.
Students will spend a significant amount of time solving carefully selected problems in small groups. The atmosphere is collaborative rather than competitive. The course is run by Winchester College maths teachers, supported by undergraduate and graduate maths students from leading universities.
We are proud to have worked in close partnership with Discovery Summer, one of the UK’s leading English language summer school providers, for 20 years. Discovery Summer’s intensive, residential courses combine English learning with a great “British” experience. Students acquire new skills and try new activities with fellow students from around the world. In 2025 they welcomed 42 nationalities, and at Winchester 15% of their students were British, adding a unique dimension to this rich cultural experience.
At Winchester, Discovery Summer offers a choice of three academic programmes for students aged 13 – 17 years. Advanced level students (B2+) are challenged on the Pre-University Enrichment programme where they choose e.g. AI, Business, Economics, Engineering, Film making, IELTS and International Relations, whereas Global Young Leaders (B1+) follow a blended programme of Young Entrepreneur, STEM, Presentation Skills and English.
Winchester College hosts two annual intensive summer courses delivered by VIMA, supporting talented young string players at different stages of their musical development. Participants join a community of musicians from across the globe, working closely with highly experienced professionals within one of the UK’s most historic educational settings. VIMA also offers opportunities for students to be heard by heads of department and professors from leading UK independent schools and London Royal Conservatoires.
The Strings Course (Grade 3+) is a broad and engaging programme designed to build musical skill, confidence and ensemble awareness. The Advanced Course (by audition, typically Grade 7 to conservatoire level) is an intensive programme for advanced young musicians preparing for the next stage of their musical training.
The Rodolfus Foundation Junior Choral Courses provide children aged 8-15 with the opportunity to experience choral singing at a high level. Under the guidance of accomplished musicians, the young singers explore a wide range of repertoire, performing traditional four-part choral works and pieces specially arranged for changing voices, as well as some lighter repertoire.
Throughout the week, participants engage in a variety of musical activities, including full choir rehearsals and consort group workshops. Led by Rodolfus’s experienced and accomplished tutors, the young singers work on an exciting mix of repertoire, ranging from well known choral works to music tailored to both higher voices and those with changing voices.
